UN PLUS applauds Namibia`s decision to lift travel ban for people living with HIV GENEVA, 9 July 2010UN PLUS joins UNAIDS in applauding the decision by the Government of Namibia to lift its travel restrictions for people living with HIV and align the country’s legislation with international public health standards. The reforms—which took effect on 1 July—also remove entry restrictions against people living with other chronic conditions.

UN Plus meets with UN Secretary General

A meeting between the United Nations Secretary-General Mr Ban Ki-moon, HIV positive UN staff members and UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé took place in Geneva. The staff are part of a UN system-wide advocacy group called UN Plus which was set up in 2005 to promote the rights of HIV-positive staff and provide peer support.
